At 2:30am on a Wednesday, oh wait that would make it a Thursday, I got the call! Levi said the contractions were coming on strong and that they were on their way to the hospital. Yippie!! Not wasting anytime I got up, did my hair, made some coffee, and waited on the update they would soon find out once they arrived at the hospital. At 3:40am my message read, "waterbroke at a 7". DANG YO! Grabbing my keys I popped into my car and headed south. So much excitement ran through my mind that I just couldn't make it to Salina fast enough! Up to the 6th floor, down the hall, opening the birthing room door expecting to hear some laboring action, but instead I found this sweet Momma and Daddy cuddling their newest bundle of joy. I believe Katie made a new record for shortest time in the hospital before giving birth. I'd say a grand total of 23mins?! SAY WHHHHHAaaaatt!? This Mom is a super mom in my books and what I hope for to see in my birthing time! Yea we missed out on those raw moments of birthing, but seriously what momma is going to complain about a fast birthing time? Here's some photos of Ether Grace in her first hours into the world <3 <3 <3
First time I met Carter he ran away from me and cried. Was it my face? Or was it the fact that I was the "picture lady"? Who knows! But you know what we set out that afternoon heading to the park to catch some sweet jumps. Carter was pumped, and I was wondering if he would still be afraid of my face after some downtime. Turns out alls he needed was some treats and some outdoors in his life. We left the park to do some off roadin'. I just love it when Dads find us the cool places! So guess, what? Yep little man was more into the pond and trying to go for a swim then trying to pose for the camera. Thats ok, because you know what...I'm not really into posing either lil buddy. Instead we found ourselves a mud-hole and had ourselves just a jolly ol' time.
Have you ever just met a family that you just want to hug? This is them guys! Their little daughter, Harper, is such a doll! She even let me hold and cuddle her. Pretty sure I am her favorite! I actually met, met Katie through my MomReppin'. Yes we knew of each other before, but we didn't know, know each other. We have spent many a coffee dates with our little girls who are just a few months apart. And I am sure over the next few months we will get to know each other even better as we await the arrival of their new baby! EKK! I actually have my phone on ring!! Yep, you read that right! My ringer is on!! OHHHH and every time it goes off...I rush over to check on baby's arrival. If you know me...I never have my phone with me, or let alone let it ring. Being on call is definitely exciting stuff and I just may pee my pants when I do get the official message that it is baby's big day!!
Ok so here I am rambling on.... back to this lovely spring day with the Whitley's. Harper had the best adventure of us all. Discoveries of dirt, moss, worms, and even giant catfishes! We set out to document real moments and Harper made it easy on us, didn't run away once. This little girl is so smart too! She can pretty much say my name and that amazes me. Plus she knew all about the moon and could not stop looking for it up in the sky. I could have just followed them around all day to watch as Harper made so many new and interesting discoveries. But you know, bedtimes! :P XOXO Destiny So as I am about to type up my this years 2018 resolutions when I see my 2017 resolution draft!!! Like, what!? I never ever posted that??? Umm.... is that a sign of how well my 2017 resolutions turned out? haha!! Below my 2017 --->
well 2016 turned out pretty well with my photography resolutions! I completed a beautiful lifestyle in-home session!! Photographed adorable Cohen within his first 48hours of birth!!! OH and I am onto my second boudoir special for the 2017 year!!! 2017 here is goes... 1. More lifestyle sessions! In-home if possible! (CHECK that off!!) 2.lifestyle of more baby's birthdays or first 48hours (UMM 2 births for 2017! YAY! Check, check.) 3.Bring back the magical quality of my photography that first inspired me to major in this art form (ohhhh no!! :( not so much check) So, not too bad on my 2017 resolutions I'd say. I like to post every year my photography resolutions. Now with 2 little ones at home my photography life and family mix, A LOT. So thats the base of my 2018 NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS! 1. set a schedule and stick to it for: -editing time -answering emails/calls -IPS -phone time -all the rest FAMILY TIME! This means lots more time with the girls and less time worrying if I replied to an email or message on my phone! It going to be tough, but it needs to be done! (5AM here we come!) 2.Add doula services onto my Birth Sessions! I have been saying it since Georgie was born, I want to be a DOULA!! ...SOOOOO book your Birth with me and I will teach you how I gave birth with no pain! You heard me, no pain. Birth isn't something to be feared! Birth is normal, natural, and safe! ..And that's the secret society tries to hide from us women. We are powerful! #normalizebirth! 3. Capture an Adoption Story! of course I am going to love building up my birth portfolio but I really want to document an adoption story. From start to the day those proud parents get to hold their little treasure! 4. Capture a Home Birth!! 5. IN PERSON SALES!! Every.single.year. I start out doing this, but then I give up! Come on Destiny, you can pull this off this year! 5 goals, not so bad. Not so bad she says... we shall see! Micah and Amanda got married on a toasty October afternoon, about 85 degrees out...if you can believe it! Amanda had been a friend of mine since I could remember growing up on tenth street. Since we were only a few houses away we spent many a days walking back and fourth and getting into mischief. I couldn't believe my childhood friend was getting married! And having me photograph the whole lovely event!! Double the excitement!!
River adventures and family outings on random Sundays have always been a favorite of mine! We sat along the river eating grapes and bananas. UMMMMMMM...YES I ALWAYS GO TO THE RIVER, SIT, AND EAT HANDFULS OF BANANAS!!! Who doesn't?! After our morning treats we walked along the forest, someone may or may not have had to take a number 2. YEP! Kelsey knows what it is like to always be prepared with teepee in hand. HAHA! These kids sure have a way of bringing giggles to your soul and a sparkle to your eye.
It's been a year!!! A YEAR!!!! I don't know if Josh and Nena can believe it...but I can't!! I got to spend this couples very first anniversary outside their new home, that is under remodeling, as they opened up their unity box filled with messages from their family. And of course some sampling from their frozen wedding cake. MMmmMMmm!! Can't say no to cake, even if its a year old. Thanks for sharing so many beautiful memories with me and many more to come!
HEY! Been following my facebook page?? Here is one of my favorite families you've been seeing! You were there for behind the scenes, and all those posts of little Ziley Bear. Now for some more of a wonderful afternoon filled with Ziley Bear. What can I say ...we just love this girl! She is on the go, non-stop party, and always bringing a smile to your face. We met up at the homestead and then country cruised for some fancy pants locations. Country cruisin is the best! Ziggy, the hound, had to come along. After all shes apart of the family too ;) OHHHH and she got herself into some fun at the lake.
We ended the session with a little backdrop Ziley's Dad handmade. Trask is an amazing artist from her Ziley tree chair, log basket, step stool, all the way down to some tanned animal furs. After all her Dad being a trappin man you have to have some time to get down, play in the mud, and have some fun. Don't forget to check out those cute feet, little fancy hints of her Momma in there too ruffles and all! Really wanted some time to do a "Rainbow Session" with Ziley but always just seem to run out of time with her. Ziley is our little "rainbow baby"! A beautiful bright rainbow follows a storm and brings us hope. Her older brother Zaire was born sleeping, he is now our little angel above watching over Ziley as she grows. So you will see my attempt to recreate a rainbow...I have a feeling I may have to give this another shot! I still love my crazy cartoony rainbow none the less. Hey you all meet this sweet little dude! Kelby wasn't feeling us posing him here, there, and making him out to be a baby model. I bet you couldn't tell, could you?! He is my cutest neighbor by far!! We get to go on walks (when its not one hundred and five) and even talk about mommy kinds of stuff with his superwoman mom, Kayla. Kayla is one of my amazing MomReps always brightening up my day. Sometimes are chats turn into deep conversations about basements. Actually just the other night we got to sneak away for a lady's night out with painting and some laughter about weirdness. I enjoy these two a lot! I haven't got to snuggle Mr. Kelby as much as I like but I have a feeling he will soon be crawling around like a mad man and Georgie will have to watch out for that boy next door. Serious people look are those little cheeks and pouty lips... A. DOR. ABLE!
I want to introduce you Corinna and Drew, this sweet couple that welcomed me into their home. Lifestyle photography has been a love of mine so naturally I was jumping out of my shoes when Corinna and Drew invited me in to capture "them", their actual true selves! It was a morning full of actual cooler weather, gardening, coffee, chickens, and some claw tubbing that you don't even know about! They let me explore their entire home, creep in on them, umm plus they actually enjoyed me hanging out and not forcing them to make-out for their entire session.
I know they will be the best of parents...just look at how they love each other and already their baby so much! I mean how freaking magical is it when they look into each others eyes and they don't even really notice thatI am there. They didn't have to worry about what their hands were doing, if they should smile, or be serious...they just were lovin' on each other and that lil baby strug. On this spring day Sarah and Jason said I do at Sarah's childhood home. You need to and you must check out this tree, this amazing tree that the ceremony took place under. LOVE! Sarah dreamed of getting married under this tree since she was a little girl. Can you say fairy tale?! You could just feel the awe standing under that magical giant. This day started out teasing us with rain clouds and turned into a perfect forecast.
Of course I have to thank my wonderful friend and photo dueting buddy Kendra Lind for inviting me to capture this most wonderful day and introducing me to a sweet lovable couple. Weddings with her are the best! Check out her blog....click here Meet Vannon and his Mommy! She is an amazing photographer which of course made me a little nervous. What's new? haha. But my fears disappeared as I finally got to hang out and chat with Brooke plus giggle at her adorable son. They are both so care free and easy going... I could have just captured them all day long. Vannon loves the outdoors and knew just how to pose in front of the camera, after all he had a lot of practice with his Mommy.
These girls , these girls ... adorable. If you can't tell by now I am in love with capturing babies and their beautiful Mommies. Marlee was on the go and pretty worried about her little cousins who were just around the corner having tons of fun! So we followed little Marlee around and captured what she thought was fun times. I would have to say she is one of the few little girls that I know that enjoys picking up bugs and studying them. Isn't this yard perfect in every way?? This is Ashley parents and I have to say .... I was beggin to come back. So happy I got to spend a lovely morning with these lovely ladies in this loveliest of places.
It's about time I got my blog up and going again!! Meet these cool cats! Dayton showed up with his big boy gloves on and ready to party. He is a lot like his dad and not so super excited about pictures being done. I bet you couldn't tell, could you?? No seriously, you couldnt....They talk a lot of talk but then just laugh and have fun the whole session. They crack me up! This is a family of all natural posers ... I literally tell them to stand in front of a pile of logs and they magically all hit a perfect pose. |
