About Destiny

I've always been a deep feeler. If I create something, I want it to be felt. Not just something pretty.

Photos should tell the truth. After all, a photo can't lie, right?

FILM DAYS <3

Before social media told us how to shoot I would steal my moms disposable camera and document the most bizarre interesting things, always down the back alleys in Concordia Kansas.

Back then if you took a "trash photo" you had to pay for the print.

My mom would hate what she discovered on her camera roll. I love it. My treasures. *cue Smigel voice* My PRECIOUS!

College was the same. Once a photography teacher asked, "Why would you even do that?"

Well, I guess pushing the limits of what photography is "suppose" to be has always inspired me. I will forever find beauty in the weird, the forgotten, and the in-between

Film - the best days <3

Photography for me, isn't about faking it. It's about uncovering beauty in the everyday, The overlooked, the missed, or heck yea even creating a little bit of your own fun!

So let's create something real. Photos that are honest, playful, NOSTALGIC, or maybe a bit wild!

Oh yea, hey. LOL! I'm Destiny. forgot to introduce myself, huh?

I'm a mother drawn to the good ol' days, stupid humor, randomness, dress up (did I not mention dressing up?! Not like hey lets wear a dress tonight. More like hey, want to get mermaid tails and float in the pond Tuesday?)  and the overlooked beauty woven into everyday life.

I'm inspired by chaos, a little unhingedness, hoarding vintage treasures, and people that make you feel like your already at home.

01.

Fact 1

I quote random movies so much so that sometimes I have forgotten that it isn't my own quote already. So much room for activities!

02.

Fact 2

I am a birth nerd. I love teaching people about the beauty of birth. Home birth Mama here.

03.

Fact 3

I have a closet full of vintage clothes. When I destash, if it's vintage...I can't let go.

04.

Fact 4

I studied photography back in the film and darkroom days. I  even taught a high school film+darkroom class

What is feels like to work with me:

it isn't about posing, but being. Feeling. Doing. Loving. Connecting. It's a time to slow down and remember, reflect, and enjoy those around you. Forget the camera is there. Let's go crazy.

xo, Destiny

tired of getting the same old poses year after year?

Tired of forcing your husband to  dress up and smile? Tired of promising your kids treats if they do a "good job"?

You've come to the right place. Here it's about the freedom of fun and being yourself!
